Maryhaven Living the Mission Award
The Living the Mission Award is given to one Maryhaven employee each month who exhibits living, furthering, promoting and embodying our mission of, Enriching the Lives of People with Special Needs.
This Months Living the Mission Award Winner
Maryhaven was excited to celebrate Tammy Wagner from our HR department for February's mission award. Tammy has been both passionate and effective in her roles at Maryhaven that have enriched the lives of our individuals. Through her work as our fiscal review specialist, she drove the principles of community integration, individualism and choice as she provided quality oversight of how individuals spend their money. After joining our human resources department, Tammy continued to uphold the safety and well-being of our individuals working collaboratively with the agency safety committee to ensure a safe and home like atmosphere for our individuals. In her role as human resource generalist, she has enhanced recruitment efforts through her work with a online platform Glassdoor, as well as being an integral part of Maryhaven being recognized as one of Long Island's top workplace in 2025. Tammy has always found a way to embody the values of our organization in each of her roles at Maryhaven. We congratulate you Tammy on embodying Maryhaven's mission.

PURPOSE:
To recognize and honor a staff ember each month for excellent job performance/skills and for superior care/interaction with the people we support.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?:
The Living the Mission Award is open to all regular Maryhaven employees who meet the criteria listed below.
CRITERIA:
- Champions the Maryhaven mission of, Enriching the Lives of People with Special Needs.
- Embodies Maryhaven values of respect, dignity, growth, diversity, compassion, enrichment, encouragement and excellence.
- Works in collaboration with others to serve and journey with the people we support.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?: To nominate an employee, please email Sister Catherine Smith, Pastoral Care, at CSmith@maryhaven.org to receive the form.
* Please Note: The Living the Mission Award began in March of 2023. Nominees are selected from a small committee who reviews them and then the final choice is given to our Executive Director, Charles Vanek, for approval. Please contact Sister Cathy if you have any questions regarding this award.
