Care Force Enhancement

Supporting staff are important to us. An estimated 4.6 million direct service professionals support people with disabilities. (We love our DSPs!) These employees, known as the Maryhaven Care Force, are the heart of our agency. They provide support by assisting in adaptive daily living skills, meal preparation, medication management and social opportunities.

Targeted investments are needed to recruit, train, and retain DSPs that are so integral to improving the experience and outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your support will help recognize, maintain and grow this workforce with special incentives and celebrations.

Integrated Business Center [IBC]

Maryhaven’s IBC is the only program of its kind on Long Island. The IBC is a Center of Excellence and provides opportunities for 350 people on an annually basis. Our shared facility provides leadership and oversight for people with disabilities and exhibits best practices in the field. With the assistance of our vocational rehabilitation team and supported employment department, we offer both in-house and community employment opportunities.

We provide assessment services to assist in identifying an individual’s skill set for training, placement, and job coaching. The goal of the IBC is to assist individuals with disabilities to become contributing members of the community and earn a sustainable wage.

Our goals include increasing corporate and community connections and partnerships, offering additional opportunities for growth and enrichment for people with disabilities and enhancing technology at the business center.
